All television programs that are scripted are referred to as written. Television series, movies, and advertisements are examples of scripted programming. The category includes sitcoms, dramas, and series. Here are some of the most well-known UK shows, such as The Office, Doctor Foster, and Dr. Who, that have been translated into foreign versions and great golf holidays in Spain.
The Office (US) is a British television comedy series that has been popular throughout the world and is one of Netflix’s most-watched original programs, with 5.7 billion minutes of streaming in 2020 alone, according to Betway Casino. The Office (US), which was named by Netflix as the most-watched show on their platform, is easily one of the most viewed UK exports. Let’s have a look at some of the UK television programs that have had an influence on other countries.
Misfits – Italy
Freaks! began as a homage to Misfits, but it quickly developed its own narrative. The second season, however, included a nod to the British program and was aired on TV rather than being released as a web series in the first season.
Doctor Foster – Russia
Kseniya Rappoport is taking over from Suranne Jones in the part of Gemma Foster, the vengeful protagonist of the BBC hit. We don’t yet know what it looks like because it isn’t expected to air until next year.
The Office – US
The Office in the United Kingdom and the United States is, while almost identical in structure, a reflection of the cultural differences between its countries of origin. The Office (2005) is a British BBC comedy mockumentary series created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, while the American NBC adaptation finds humor in the quirks of its characters’ jobs as office drones.
The IT Crowd – Germany
We’re hoping this is the classic scenario because all signs of it have been erased. Only two episodes of the German adaptation of Channel 4’s cult comedy, titled Das iTeam – Die Jungs an der Maus (AKA The iTeam – The Boys at the Mouse), were aired. Due to poor ratings following the second episode, it was quickly abandoned.
Life on Mars – Spain, Russia & Czech Republic
Life on Mars, like The Office, has been remade in the United States (The One), Czech Republic (World Under the Head) and Russia (Dark Side of the Moon). Spain has also had its own translation (La Chica de Ayer, AKA The Girl from Yesterday).) All of them followed the same idea, in which a police officer is sent back in time – and they varied it up with their own particular twist, such as the Russian version where Sam Tyler is sent back to Soviet Russia in 1979.
The Inbetweeners – US
The Inbetweeners’ depiction of pubescent derring-do, in contrast to Skins’ gritty presentation of teendom, was charming bawdiness from Damon Beesley and Iain Morris’s The Inbetweeners. At a tough-knocks comprehensive, Simon Will, Neil, and Jay played inexperienced young men caught up in an impossible course of cruel teachers, aloof females, and oblivious parents. In 2010, MTV announced that it would produce an American version of The Inbetweeners, but the show didn’t take off in the United States. Metro included the attempt as one of the Top 10 British comedies remakes that have failed in the United States.
