However, some side hustles are better than others when it comes to pay, and that’s what this list of the 10 highest paying side hustles will show you!
See this blog for more tips and ideas about side hustles to make money online.
Trades/Skills
If you’re into a trade, chances are there are opportunities to make extra money doing side work. For example, if you’re a carpenter or an electrician, or even a painter or plumber, people typically don’t mind looking for help from professionals when it comes to home repair and upkeep. Or maybe you enjoy refinishing furniture—look for side jobs doing that. It might not pay as much as other side gigs on our list, but if it helps pay your bills—it’s worth considering. Another option is offering up your services as a personal assistant; especially if you have an eye for organization.

One of my favorite hobbies is making money, but no one said it has to be a full-time job. I always have a few side hustles going at once, even though you might be thinking, side hustle? What’s that? It’s basically a second gig outside of your regular 9-to-5. The best part about having some extra cash on the side is that you can earn it when you want and where you want!
Product Arbitrage
If you’re someone who likes to shop, it may be possible to earn an income by reselling what you buy. Websites like ThredUp and Tradesy are two that allow you to sell your fashion finds for a small commission. And it doesn’t stop there—many online marketplaces now let users not only sell their products but also build full-scale online stores with payment options, inventory management and more. Become a virtual merchant from your living room! It’s never been easier to turn your assets into extra money. In fact, Facebook has made its Marketplace feature available to everyone. To get started on Facebook Marketplace, click here. You can create a business page within minutes and begin accepting payments via PayPal or direct deposit.
Bikes, Scooters, and Mopeds
This can be an especially smart option if you live in a big city where there are lots of pedestrians and bicyclists. It’s also pretty fun, since you get to explore around your neighborhood or city and do some people-watching while you earn money. Once again, though, it might not be as fun in subzero temperatures—or when it’s dark and scary at night. The same goes for mopeds: great for a nice weather day or with other people driving alongside you; maybe not so much if you’re out there on your own late at night. Still, I think that riding bikes and scooters is probably one of my favorite ways to make extra cash because it doesn’t feel like work at all! Plus, it gets me outside every once in a while (which is important) and gives me a chance to exercise (also important).
Street Performances
You may not know it, but you can make some serious money on a street corner. But if you’re interested in making money by performing, you need to do your research first. Whether it’s juggling, singing or playing music, there are specific places where you can pull in a lot of cash—without putting yourself in physical danger. In addition to state and city laws that regulate performance-based income, be sure to check with private organizations such as businesses or event planners for additional rules and regulations. They may require permits or application fees before letting you start raking in that cash.
Creative Writing
There are countless websites willing to pay money for unique and well-written articles. From freelance writing sites like Textbroker to content mills like Contently and Corante, there’s no shortage of sites where you can write articles on various topics and earn a decent wage in your spare time. Look into these options if you’re hoping to improve your writing skills or simply want some more money in your pocket. If you want something even easier than freelance writing, check out Fiverr, where thousands of people will pay $5 for anything from proofreading an essay to creating an animated video from scratch. The only thing better than $5 is $30…per hour.
Ghostwriting
Ghostwriting is a great side hustle because you can make money fast. No, this isn’t about just cranking out content so that it can be posted on a platform somewhere. It’s more about what someone is willing to pay you to do in terms of writing. For example, I write for several clients regularly and one pays me $100 an hour to write basic articles (with a quick turnaround). Another client has offered me $300 per hour and I could even have his private jet pick me up if needed (wouldn’t take him up on that though). Sure, these are higher-end gigs and not realistic for most people but they are possible—and lucrative—opportunities to consider as you get your feet wet with ghostwriting. The best part is that once you start getting good at it, there are many places where you can offer your services.
I don’t want to bore anyone reading any further so here’s a quick summary: Don’t let anyone steal your ideas! You’ve spent countless hours working on them or researching them, don’t let someone else reap all of the benefits from them! If they want to work with you and use your idea, offer yourself as a consultant instead. Make sure everyone understands who came up with each idea . Also make sure everyone understands who will benefit from those ideas (hint: probably not you!) Don’t let other people steal your stuff!
Conclusion
The key to finding a lucrative side hustle is to go into it with a certain type of mentality. If you aren’t prepared to work hard and market yourself, don’t even bother looking for an extra stream of income. Like most anything else, these opportunities require legwork in order to be successful.
